School Age Program

Afterschool Mission

Sesame Sprout School Age Program is an integral part of our program and the community. The children are allowed to engage in developmentally appropriate choice activities.

Sesame Sprout Mission is to develop a holistic approach to, addressing the needs of the children and providing a quality and physically safe environment. Coupled with that commitment is our desire to provide a wide variety of hands on educational materials for use in an informal setting which would encourage the children to develop self – learning skills.

We provide homework assistance, individualized tutoring to prepare students for the state exams, club time and computer training. The hours are from 2:30 – 6:30 p.m Monday – Friday.

Goals:

  • Make learning fun by allowing students to explore their own interests and develop at their own pace.
  • Establish an organized, informal and program of activities appropriate to the age, needs and interests of children, including children with disabilities.
  • Provide a program of self- initiated, group initiated and staff initiated activities which are intellectually stimulating and foster self reliance and social responsibility.
  • Provide students with opportunities for learning and self expression.
  • Providing special activities to promote leadership and communication skills and giving participants the opportunity to practice those skills
  • Organizing field trips to community resources such as library, parks, museums etc which will help them to nurture a sense of community.
